Editorial Policy

DialysisCompare.com exists to give patients, families, and caregivers accurate, unbiased information about US dialysis facilities — drawn entirely from official government data. Here is where our information comes from and how we keep it correct.

Our Data Source

All facility listings, addresses, phone numbers, services, and quality star ratings come verbatim from the CMS Provider Data Catalog — Dialysis Facility Compare, published by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services. This is a public-domain quarterly dataset. We do not add or edit facility records by hand.

Star Ratings — Presented Factually Only

Quality star ratings are displayed exactly as published by CMS, with no modification. We do not editorialize beyond the published rating — no "best clinic" opinions, no ranking that departs from the CMS methodology. The CMS Quality of Patient Care star rating compares facilities on risk-adjusted patient outcomes (survival, hospitalization, readmission, transfusion rates, and dialysis adequacy). We link to CMS's own methodology documentation so readers can verify the source.

No Pay-for-Placement

Facilities cannot pay to be listed, ranked higher, or featured. Every listing appears because it is in the CMS dataset. Sort order on city and state pages is by CMS star rating (highest first), then alphabetical — not by any commercial relationship.

Guides and Explanatory Content

Our guides explain publicly available information — how CMS ratings work, dialysis modality options, Medicare coverage, and how to choose a facility. All factual claims cite primary sources: CMS, Medicare.gov, the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK), and other official bodies. Guides do not constitute medical advice and are reviewed and updated by the DialysisCompare editorial team when the underlying source data or policy changes.

Corrections

If you spot something wrong — an outdated address, an incorrect phone number, an error in a guide — use the feedback widget at the bottom of any page. Reports go to a reviewed queue. Facility data errors are re-verified against the CMS source; guide errors are verified against the primary source cited. Corrections are applied on the next data refresh or immediately for guide content. See our contact page for how that process works.

Independence

DialysisCompare.com is an independent directory, not affiliated with CMS, Medicare, or any dialysis provider. We link to official government sources so you can confirm anything for yourself.
